Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott, Oxygen Network’s husband and wife reality TV team, came on the show today to help solve a great debate: should your toilet paper be rolled over or under?

It’s called the Cottonelle Roll Poll and the duo is recruiting people to take sides with Tori on Team Over or Dean on Team Under. The couple came on the set, with their reality TV crew in tow, and tested their method in a sudden death race.

WPIX intern TC McCarthy and freelancer Jeremy Tanner stood perfectly still as they were mummified in Cottonelle 2 ply. Spelling wrapped with her TP rolled ‘over’ and McDermott with his ‘under’. Today’s event serves as a preview for this afternoon’s kick off of the Cottonelle Great Debate at Times Square studios from 3pm to 6pm.

The debate is being held in honor of Thomas Crapper, a 19th century plumber who is often falsely credited with the invention of the flush toilet. While he was not the inventor (John Harrington was), he did actively promote its widespread use (and no, his name is in no way connected with the euphamism used today).

Spelling and McDermott are the stars of Oxygen’s Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood, a reality show about the couple’s perils in balancing parenthood, stardom and romance in Tinseltown. New episodes air later in the spring.
