Limoncello is Philadelphia sun in a bottle as far as Danny DeVito is concerned. The long time actor came on our show to promote his new italian liqeur and the hit FX sitcom It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
DeVito’s affinity for Limoncello first became evident when he appeared drunk on The View after a night of drinking with George Clooney. Now he is producing his own flavor of Limencello cleverly named “Danny DeVito’s Premium Limoncello.” According to SeriousEats.com the drink is produced and bottled on an estate of lemon trees on Italy’s Sorrento peninsula and is 60-proof, best served very cold or over ice.
Accompanying DeVito on the show was DelFrisco mixologist Meghan Moran. She whipped up a cuckoo-tini, a Danny DeVito’s Premium Limoncello-based drink that was named after his character, Martini, in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
In order to make the drink Moran needed:
4 oz Danny Devito’s Limoncello
juice of ½ lime squeezed
juice of ½ lemon squeezed
5 cilantro leaves
1 slice jalapeno (1/8 inch thick –hollowed out seeds)
Fill shaker with ice and add all ingredients. No muddling. Strain and pour in martini glass. Garnish – one jalapeno slice floating
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is currently on haitus and is reported to return in September 2010.
You can pick up a 750ml bottle of Danny DeVito’s Premium Limoncello at any wine/liquor store for approximately $25.
